Welcome to the site of the Church of Saint Clement, Pope of Rome. This church represents a monument of Russian architecture of XVIII century, a «perle» of Zamoskvorechye (the territories on the right (southern) bank of Moskva River.
The history of the church dates to XVII century and is very adventurous, mysterious and tragic. This precious monument of Russian palace baroque has escaped the 1812th fire and a vandalism of the Soviet period. This church has kept its glorious and wonderful look regardless the absence of the service during seventy years. It was only in 2002 that the spiritual life of the church revived after the appointment of Leonid Kalinin as the arch-priest.
In 2008 the books of the Russian state library were moved from the premises of the church. The present mission of the church is to take care of Orthodox people, united and led by His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II.
